1967 - Las Vegas - Location of the very first world championship of backgammon.
Thomas Jefferson should have been busy writing the American DOI – instead his account expense list shows his wins and losses at backgammon in June, 1776.
Even the Egyptians played a variation of Backgammon called “Sennet”.
An ancient slab of marble found in Rome with other similar Christian artifacts included a backgammon board with an inscription next to a Greek cross in the center, which basically means " Christ our Lord grants aid and victory to dicers if they write his Name upon rolling the dice, Amen".
